Backroad

I’ve got arms made of steel from turning that wagon wheel

And I got hands made of stone from getting that money out of blood and bone

A coal miner’s daughter

She told me I should save my breath

And with all the things I bought her

She only took my heart when she left

Now I’ve got lines in my face and I’ve got lines in my hands

And They say one makes my fate and one makes me a man

And a preacher man’s daughter

She told me I should look inside

With all the lines she offered

How could I have never known she lied

You can take me down

Take me down and you can lay me low

Because I have burned this evening on to the ground and it’s time for me to go

Somebody get me out of Rome

Out of Rome

On a backroad

I’ve got a heart made of lead I had it poured into a cast mold

And like my daddy before me I’ll turn that puppy to a slab of gold

Yes I will

Cause a truck driver’s daughter

She told me I should just move on

She run but I caught her and told you can go on get gone

Get gone

You can take me down

Take me down and you can lay me low

Because I have burned this evening on to the ground and it’s time for me to go

Somebody get me out of Rome

Out of Rome

On a backroad
